Just go for a run….

Research tells us exercise is a great stress reliever because it can help blow off steam and release endorphins, but when we are feeling overwhelmed the last thing we want to do is add another thing to our to-do list.

The challenge with exercise and overwhelm is trying to fit in exercise on an already crammed schedule (or crammed mind – remember the monkey brain from writing your thoughts episode). Also intense exercise, which is often what we think of when we think we need to exercise, increases cortisol, the stress hormone that is already too high when we are in a chronic state of overwhelm.

So how do we get the benefits of exercise while we are experiencing overwhelm? This is what I discuss in this week’s episode of Overcoming Overwhelm – adding movement.
